The global leader in sport and exercise science is the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). ACSM began in 1955 and they are a scientific organisation as opposed to being one of the many ‘training companies’ that exist in the UK and the world today. ACSM set the guidelines for the industry (and for exercise and sports medicine also) as well as also offering qualification credentials. To cause confusion, some American ‘training companies’ have named themselves after the ACSM – I’m sure you are guest which one.
