Personal Training Courses Hatfield

University of Hertfordshire (Hatfield) hosts an annual personal training course programme to become a qualified personal trainer. 

The qualification is called Level 3 Diploma in Fitness Instructing and Personal Training and is suitable for those who have no prior fitness qualifications.

Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym)

Workshop days: Tuesday 29th May - Thursday 31st May 2018
Practical Assessment: Friday 1st June 2018
Theory Assessment: Tuesday 12th August 2018
 
Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training 
Workshop days: Monday 4th June 2018 - Wednesday 6th June 2018
Practical Assessment: Thursday 7th June 2018 
Theory Assessment: Tuesday 26th June 2018
 
So the combined Diploma (Level 3 Diploma in Fitness Instructing and Personal Training) will be all of the above dates.

Gym Practical Assessment: Friday 1st June 2018
Gym Theory Assessment: Tuesday 12th August 2018
PT Workshop days: Monday 4th June 2018 - Wednesday 6th June 2018

QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE AND UNIT CONTENT

Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (GYM)

This qualification comprises of 6 mandatory units

Unit 1 - Anatomy and physiology for exercise

Unit 2 - Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity

Unit 3 - Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment

Unit 4 - Principles of exercise, fitness and health

Unit 5 - Planning gym-based exercise

Unit 6 - Instructing gym-based exercise

Exams are theory and practical. 

There is some written course work.

 

Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification comprises of 7 mandatory units

 The following 3 units have already been achieved at Level 2

•• Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity

•• Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment

•• Principles of exercise, fitness and health

Unit 1 – Anatomy and physiology for health and exercise

Unit 2 – Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme

Unit 3 – Programming personal training with clients

Unit 4 – Delivering personal training sessions

Successful achievement of all seven units must be achieved for the full qualification.

Exams are theory and practical. 

There is some written course work and is an 8-week case-study.
