Tips on writing your CV

_ The position you are looking for should be obvious from your CV and if necessary CV should be written and tailored to the job description and the particular organisation you apply for a position with.

_ Ideally keep to a maximum of two pages (three absolute max).

_ Make sure there is an answer phone on the number you have given on your CV to take calls when you are not in. Having a sensible message on the phone could help. If you give out your mobile phone number be ready for potential employers calling with the possibility of catching you unawares.

_ Make sure you do not have any gaps in the dates for your employment and make sure you indicate the month and year of employment periods. If there are gaps in employment indicate simply using the dates what you were doing.

_ Always put the most recent first (education and employment).

_ List specific details and duties involved in your previous jobs and give extra detail for your current position. Show the relevance of your current position to the position you are applying for.

_ Include two references: one personal - a professional person such as a teacher or lecturer that has known you for more than 5 years and one professional - your most recent employer is essential.
