This carefully chosen combination of qualifications, memberships and skills programmes provides access to full registration with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) as a Level 3 Personal Trainer, the highest credentials available to a personal trainer. Also included is the advanced nutrition, the PT Tool Kit of 7 online courses including Kettle Bell Course. In addition, candidates also learn how to set up and run their new personal training business with the No Sweat Personal Training Marketing and Policies and Procedures - ebooks and tuition and the Active IQ Level 3 Award in Business Skills for Fitness Professionals (QCF). Entry Requirements

• Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended
• The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary
• There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2

Location of Training and Assessments

For those who choose to attend face-to-face the location is London Metropolitan University at 166-220 Holloway Rd, London N7 8DB. It is 2 minutes walk from Holloway Road tube station which is on the Piccadilly Line. 

Qualification Structure

The Diploma in Fitness Instructing and Personal Training REPS Level 3 combines: 

i) Certificate in Fitness Instructing REPS Level 2

Course duration part time 3 weeks minimum overall

This qualification is the entry level to a career in fitness and includes:

Anatomy and physiology heart and circulatory systems, energy systems, skeletal system, muscle actions, muscle origins and insertions.

Components of fitness, warm up, cool down and flexibility.  

Introduction to the Gym CV Machines, Free Weights and Fixed Weights.

Spotting technique

Muscular strengthen & endurance and aerobic exercise, adaptation to exercise.

Special Populations Pre & Post Natal, Older clients, Adolescents, Clients with Disabilities, Health Screening

Introduction & Overview of Exercise to Music & Level 3 & 4 courses

Program Design by the end of this module, you will be able to write effective exercise programs for the normal, healthy, fit individual.

As a fitness professional, you need to understand the current level of fitness of each of your clients as well as have an understanding of what is going on inside the client’s body, before prescribing an exercise program for them.

Fitness assessing each client ensures that you are a safe and effective operator in the industry.

Cardiovascular training and advanced program design to maximise benefits, understanding how to improve aerobic thresholds

Weight Training looking at the all the different training systems to allow you to be able to deliver different fitness results.  Periodization of training programs as well as the different types of weight training hypertrophy to increase muscle mass, as well as toning and strength and conditioning.  Learning how to effectively manipulate the training variables in order to achieve the client’s training goals.

Postural analysis, teaches students to identify movement limitation, to perform static and advanced stretching techniques.

PT opportunities, how to engage clients on the gym floor, client consultations and interactions with other healthcare providers in supporting community based physical activity and healthy living.

Kettle Bell Training warm up, correct technique, drills, front squats, kettle bell swing and clean.  The perfect piece of kit for personal trainers.  

III) Nutrition for health and fitness

Enables PT’s to provide advise on diet and nutrition to their personal training clients.

Macro nutrient carbohydrates, fats, proteins looking at how the body absorbs them and what quantities you need them in for optimal nutrition. 

Micro nutrients vitamins and mineral.

Weight management skills are very important as a high percentage of your clients will have a weight management problem.

Pre and post exercise refuelling very important for growth and repair after heavy bouts of exercise and very important when training clients that perform at a high level.

Food Labels understanding food labelling.

Glycaemic load and index.

Exercise nutrition.

Weight management.

Consult communicate and goal set.

 

IV) Level 3 Award in Business Skills for Fitness Professional

This qualification comprises of one mandatory unit
Unit 1 Improving your business skills
Successful achievement of this unit must be achieved for the full qualification.
