The Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Delivering Behaviour Management and Physical Activities to Children Under 5 aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan and deliver safe, effective and stimulating physical activity sessions for children under 5. The qualification also address the common core of skills and knowledge developed by the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) and gives learners the skills to be able to promote healthy living to families and children.


Participants can progress through at a pace to suit the individual – intensive within 3-4 weeks or slow and steady up to one year.

Successful completion of the Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Delivering Physical Activity Sessions to Children Under 5 will enable learners to plan and deliver activities which contribute to the six areas covered by the Early Learning Goals and Educational Programmes:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication, language and literacy
  • Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world
  • Physical development
  • Creative development

This qualification also provides some of the underpinning knowledge for the following sections in the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework

  • The learning and development requirements (Section 2)
  • Welfare requirements (Section 3)
  • Other Information (Section 4)

Duration

The total number of guided learning hours is 104, so you will be involved in guided learning hours of between 8 and 16  hours per week depending on the chosen duration of your course (ie between 3 and 6 weeks).

- Home study course
- Live internet-based individual tutorials
- 1-day assessment  date (select one of our monthly assessment dates)
- You will be involved in guided learning for between 8 and 16  hours per week depending on the chosen duration of your course (ie between 3 and 6 weeks). 

ii) Pure distance learning format 
- Home study course
- Live internet-based individual tutorials
- Internet practical training session
- DVD submitted practical assessment (date to suit candidate)
- Live internet theory assessment (date to suit candidate)
- You will be involved in guided learning for between 8 and 16  hours per week depending on the chosen duration of your course (ie between 3 and 6 weeks). 

Entry Requirements

Note: Learners can be employed before the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is complete provided the organisation is satisfied, on the basis of other checks, that it is safe to do so; however, organisations cannot let anyone have unsupervised access to children until they have a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Location of Assessments

For those choosing to attend face-to-face the location is London Metropolitan University which is located at 166-220 Holloway Rd, London N7 8DB. It is 2 minutes walk from Holloway Road tube station which is on the Piccadilly Line.

Aim 

- To train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to plan and deliver safe and effective group and individual physical exercise sessions for children aged up to 5 years.
